prices. St. Lucia's stores are a lot smaller than the average commercial
centre you might find at home, nevertheless they do offer exquisite
things that shoppers won't find anywhere else.

Shopping in Castries, the capital of St. Lucia, has
boundless opportunities to satisfy even the most particular individual.
Starting in the 100 year Castries Craft Market. Shoppers will be
dazzled by the beautiful colors and scents of the handmade clothing,
paintings, carvings, and spices
Just across from the market and next to the local
fire department you will come across La Place Carenage.La Place
Carenage as the name suggestest is located on the Castries Harbor
and is quite often the first St. Lucian experience cruise ship passengers
have. The two storey building offers a variety of souviner items
and fine clothing and cosmetics.
If you are after something special but still have
not seen it take the ferry ride across the harbor to Pointe Saraphine,
St. Lucia's largest duty free shopping complex. The complex is St.
Lucia's main docking station for cruise ships and can at times be
a beehive of activity and shopping. Shoppers can purchase duty-free
designer perfumes, crystal, china, jewelry, cigars and clothing
as well as wood carvings and other local arts and crafts.
There is lots to see and experience. Combine this
with the amazing views of Caribelle Boutique, a hill top house/boutique
where craftsmen create beautiful batik and screen-prints while you
look around and shop.
The island in general has much to offer from local arts and craft
centres, local galleries to grand exclusive offering of Diamonds
International, Colombian Emerald and Little Switzerland which offer
the finest in china, crystal, jewellery and watches.
The main duty-free shopping centers that are available in St Lucia
are located in the following places; La Place Carenage, Castries;
Pointe Seraphine, Castries; J.Q. Mall, Rodney Bay and Hawanorra
Airport Duty-Free, Vieux Fort.
While store hours vary from place to place, the standard opening
times are from 8:30AM to 4:30PM Monday to Friday. The Castries Market
is particularly vibrant on Saturdays, especially during the Jazz
Festival and Carnival. Most shops are open Saturdays regularly from
8:30AM to 12:30PM, while the major shopping centers are open in
the afternoon as well.
